Air of Authority

I Last week on Tuesday morning I had a meeting to attend.  Knowing that I'm 5'5" and female, I wanted to make sure I could convey some authority and be taken seriously.  So I chose a blazer.  But I didn't want to wear a full suit.  My solution was to wear a pair of dark gray pants with my navy pinstripe blazer.  After my meeting I swapped out the blazer for my blue pashmina for the rest of the day.  It kept me warm and added some color and detail to the outfit.

When you need it, how do you convey authority through dress?

The Details:
Blazer: Nine West (suit)
Cream Sweater: LOFT
Gray pants: Gap
Boots: Etienne Aigner
Pashmina: streets of BCN
Necklace: Consignment
Red Coat: ON

i really like this!
it says "i'm in control but i'm also colorful." and the different colored blazer and pants are perfect!

Thanks love! I was going for suit-like but not suit stuffy. :)

I think its super cute! It definitely sends a message you have it together and you know what you're doing!

When I want to convey authority I wear a suit and heels. I tend to go for pretty classic cuts when I want to be taken seriously. My go to serious outfit: skirt suit, oxford shirt, black pumps and pearls. I'm only 5'3" so the heels are a must!

I'm with you on needing heels. Heels make me feel super confident. Heels + blazer and I'm a rockstar. :)
